NATA Celebrates 75 Years as the Voice of Aviation Business

NATA Celebrates 75 Years as the Voice of Aviation Business

Washington, DC, December 28, 2015 –Today, the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) celebrates its seventy-fifth year as the Voice of Aviation Business. NATA’s celebration of its rich history continues throughout 2016 with member spotlights and testimonials, contests, giveaways and more.

As a response to military efforts in 1940 to ground all private flying in America for the duration of World War II, activists moved quickly to prevent the cessation of general aviation activity—in the process forming the association known today as NATA.

“NATA will forever be indebted to William A. Ong, Leslie H. Bowman and many others whose vision and dedication remain the hallmarks of our association. However, these great leaders truly owe their success—and the continuing success of NATA—to the scores of current and former volunteer leaders who over these past 75 years generously donated their time and resources to actively help guide our efforts. These volunteers include NATA board members, committee members and the many others we call upon to provide their expertise and insights on a host of issues,” said NATA President and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks.

Today, the association has grown to nearly 2,300 members throughout the United States, and NATA continues to represent the interests of the general aviation business community before the Congress as well as federal, state and local government agencies. NATA also provides cutting-edge products and services to the industry, including Workers’ Compensation Insurance and the industry-leading Safety 1st training program.

“Looking ahead, the future of NATA is bright as we embark on our next 75 years. It is an honor to lead the association and to work with highly dedicated NATA staff, volunteers and members. This is a winning combination that is going to ensure The Voice of Aviation Business grows even stronger,” added Hendricks.
