Dr. Gerald Dillingham to Receive NATA’s Distinguished Public Service Award

Washington, DC, April 11, 2018 – Today, the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) is pleased to announce that Dr. Gerald Dillingham, former U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Director of Civil Aviation Issues, will be awarded the association’sDistinguished Public Service Award. On March 31, 2018, Dr. Dillingham completed a distinguished and celebrated career of public service, spanning more than four decades. NATA’s Distinguished Public Service Award is a special honor awarded by its Board of Directors and members — recognizing outstanding service and contributions to the industry.

“The National Air Transportation Association is honored to recognize Gerald Dillingham’s fair and nonpartisan approach to his work and his engagement with all facets of the industry to produce highly-regarded and thorough results. Under Dr. Dillingham’s leadership, the GAO produced numerous studies essential to providing a factual basis, which government and industry could rely upon to guide policy discussions,” stated NATA President Martin H. Hiller.

In particular, NATA and its member companies appreciate his leadership and collaboration with the general aviation community on recent studies to quantify the impact of fuel tax revenue diversion on the Airport and Airway Trust Fund and his research into the potential effects of privatizing the nation’s air traffic control system.

“NATA congratulates Dr. Dillingham on his retirement and looks forward to commemorating his illustrious career and the strong foundation of integrity he leaves behind at the GAO,” added Hiller.

NATA will present Dr. Dillingham with its Distinguished Public Service Award during a luncheon on June 13th at the Grand Hyatt Washington in DC. The association will hold the luncheon in conjunction with its Annual Meeting and Aviation Business Conference.
