nullDelaware Celebrates General Aviation

Recently, Delaware Governor Jack Markell and Lieutenant Governor Matthew Denn declared June 2013 as “Delaware General Aviation Appreciation Month” across the state. The proclamation highlights general aviation as “a vital strategic resource to the state and the people” and discussed the industry’s contributions to the state’s people, businesses and farms. In 2011, Governor Markell issued a similar proclamation recognizing general aviation’s vital role to the vitality and success of Delaware.

nullImportance of General Aviation Recognized in Nevada

On May 17, 2013, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval signed a proclamation declaring June 2013 as Aviation Appreciation Month. Aviation “is a critical tool for companies in Nevada to improve efficiency, save money and open up opportunities for rural areas not served by commercial aviation, thereby bringing new business, investment and jobs to all areas of the state,” the proclamation states. This is the second proclamation in two years that Governor Sandoval has signed recognizing the importance of aviation to the state’s economic and social wellbeing.

nullIllinois Governor Declares General Aviation Month

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn recently declared June as “General Aviation Month” across the state. The proclamation states that general aviation contributes over $4.4 billion to Illinois’ economy and supports nearly 55,000 jobs at general aviation airports statewide. Throughout Illinois, there are 89 fixed base operators, 13 flight schools and 65 charter flight companies. In 2011, Governor Quinn also signed a proclamation recognizing the value of general aviation to the wellbeing of Illinois’ people and businesses.

NATA members throughout New York are encouraged to contact their state Representatives and Senators in support of bills in both chambers that would exempt general aviation aircraft purchased in the state from the New York sales and use tax.
