nullNATA Comments on DOT Broker Rule

Last week, NATA submitted comments to the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) proposed rules covering brokering activities in the air charter industry. Overall the association welcomed the DOTs efforts to improve transparency when flights are brokered. NATA recommended that DOT create a simple online registry system for indirect air carrier brokers and also offered several other suggestions to improve the regulations that DOT proposed. nullIRS Announces 2014 Excise Tax Rates

The IRS has announced the rates for 2014 for certain taxes and fees that are subject to annual inflation. For transportation in calendar year 2014 the domestic segment fee is $4.00, the International Facilities Fee is $17.50 and the fee for transportation beginning or ending in Alaska or Hawaii is $8.70. These rates are detailed in Internal Revenue Bulletin 2013-47.

nullGeneral Aviation Jobs Rally - Dallas, Texas 

On Friday, December 6th, at 11:00AM a General Aviation Jobs Rally will be held at Bombardier's Dallas Service Center at Love Field, 7336 Aviation Place, Dallas, Texas. The purpose of the rally is to highlight the importance of general aviation to the Texas and national economy. U.S. Senator John Cornyn, Congressman Marc Veasey and others will speak at the event. All are welcome. For more information click here.

nullOhio Governor Declares December 2013 General Aviation Appreciation Month

Ohio Governor John Kasich has declared December 2013 to be General Aviation Appreciation Month across the “Birthplace of Aviation” state. For the third consecutive year, Governor Kasich has recognized the value in aviation to businesses and communities throughout the state. Across Ohio, the proclamation states, there are 98 general aviation airports which provide nearly 17,500 direct and indirect jobs which pay a total of $498 million annually. The total aviation impact throughout Ohio is $10.5 billion, of which general aviation contributes $5.56 billion.

nullSafety 1st  Ground Auditor Workshop 

NATA’s Safety 1st  Ground Audit Standard allows for two levels of certification: a self-certification level and a third-party audit level. All candidates who meet the requirements to become an accredited auditor will need to be trained on the Ground Audit Standards by NATA. NATA will hold a Safety 1st Ground Auditor Workshop for those candidates January 13-14, 2014 in New Orleans, LA.  Click here for more details.
