nullAviation Subcommittee to Examine Challenges and Opportunities of Aviation Manufacturing

On Wednesday, July 23rd, the House Aviation Subcommittee will hold a hearing titled “Domestic Aviation Manufacturing: Challenges and Opportunities.” The subcommittee will examine the state of American aviation manufacturing and the economic health and challenges that face the industry. nullFAA Provides Forms For Drug/Alcohol Testing Programs

The FAA provides several forms to help employers meet their obligations for mandatory drug and alcohol testing programs. 

Two forms have recently been revised and are now available:
• Pre-employment Notification and Acknowledgement
• Notice to Report for Random Testing

nullKentucky Governor Declares July 2014 “Aviation Appreciation Month”

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear recently signed a proclamation declaring July 2014 as “Aviation Appreciation Month.” Across the state, aviation employs thousands of Kentuckians and accounts for $1.75 billion in economic activity. Also of note, the aerospace industry led Kentucky exports in 2013 with $5.6 billion. To read the proclamation, click here

nullFAA Issued Change 1 to AC 43-6C on July 15th

The AC 43-6C provides information concerning acceptable methods of testing altimeters, static systems, altitude encoders, and air traffic control (ATC) transponder systems (ATCTS).  It covers the acceptable means of compliance for testing — after original installations, after performing repairs, or during scheduled recertification. The FAA issued Change 1 to this AC on July 15th. Read more.

nullFundamentals of IS-BAH and IS-BAH Auditor Workshops Begin in August

Earlier this month, NATA and the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) released the International Standard – Business Aircraft Handling (IS-BAH). Companies that are interested in becoming IS-BAH registered will be required to attend a “Fundamentals of IS-BAH” workshop. Individuals that would like to become IS-BAH auditors will be required to attend this workshop as well as an “IS-BAH Auditing” workshop. These workshops begin next month and additional dates will be announced later this year.

• August 27, 2014 – Fundamentals of IS-BAH – Le Bourget, France
• August 28, 2014 – IS-BAH Auditing – Le Bourget, France
• September 17, 2014 – IS-BAH Auditing – Atlanta, GA
• September 18, 2014 – Fundamentals of IS-BAH – Atlanta, GA

Companies interested in IS-BAH registration must register for the Fundamentals of IS-BAH workshop but may also register for a non-accreditation version of the IS-BAH Auditing workshop in order to learn more about the auditing process. nullNew Services Offered to Pilots Attending Oshkosh

Services such as morning weather briefing and flight planning will be available in a new location for pilots at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2014. EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, the 62nd annual fly-in convention for the Experimental Aircraft Association, is July 28th-August 3rd at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. EAA Pilot Services, presented by Signature Flight Support, will be located in the Federal Pavilion. DTC DUAT will be the official weather provider, and ForeFlight will have iPads on hand for pilots to explore the latest ForeFlight Mobile features.
