NATA Submits Comments On Proposed Residential Through-The-Fence Policy

This week, NATA submitted its formal comments on the FAA’s proposed policy on Residential Through-The-Fence agreements (RTTF). The FAA proposed policy on RTTF agreements was the result of a comprehensive policy review conducted by the agency after significant concerns were raised that a previous proposal did not adequately account for existing RTTF agreements.

The proposed policy calls for allowing existing RTTF agreements to continue with increased oversight and evaluation from airports while prohibiting any new RTTF agreements at public-use airports. In its comments, NATA pointed out that the association’s “interest in Residential Through-The-Fence policy stems from our concern that promoting residential development near or adjacent to airports may ultimately hamper the ability of airports to react to changes in aviation traffic, volumes and aircraft.” NATA goes on to state, we “fully support the Federal Aviation Administration’s proposed policy on RTTF agreements. We believe that the proposed policy provides an adequate balance between the future needs of airports and existing RTTF access.”

NATA Board Of Directors Visits World Trade Center Site

The NATA Board of Directors visited the World Trade Center site during its quarterly board meeting in New York City, NY, earlier this month. The tour, sponsored and coordinated by officials of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, allowed NATA board members to see current construction and to pay their respects to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

"This tour was an incredibly moving experience for our entire board of directors," explained NATA President James K. Coyne. "To stand on the highest floor of the newly raised (and still under construction) Tower One and look down at all the progress that has been made in such a short period was remarkable."

Intense and round-the-clock efforts are currently underway as preparations are made for the 10th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

"The members of the NATA Board of Directors applaud all the men and women working at the World Trade Center site for their tireless efforts in constructing a magnificent memorial," Coyne stated. "In honor of these efforts and of those who lost their lives on that fateful day in 2001, NATA will be making a donation to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum."

"I would also like to thank officials at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey for coordinating this tour," concluded Coyne. "NATA and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey continue to have an outstanding working relationship, and we look forward to addressing aviation issues important to our membership and the New York City metropolitan area."

TThe Strategic Business Plan Webinar Will Now Be Held November 16

Don’t Miss This Free E-Learn Webinar

In addition to communicating the mission, vision, and values of an aviation business (as they relate to the development, operation and management, and marketing of the aviation business), the Strategic Business Plan (SBP) conveys the specific goals and objectives that need to be met to position the aviation business for the future and/or take it to the next level.  In essence, the SBP provides a systematic approach for making decisions today that will have a direct impact on the aviation business. Beyond answering the key questions of “Where is the aviation business today (Point A)?” and “Where do you want the aviation business to be tomorrow (Point B)?,” the SBP answers the question: How is the aviation business going to get there – what needs to happen to get from Point A to Point B?

This webinar will provide attendees a deeper insight into:
- The role, purpose, and importance of the SBP
- The key elements and essential components of the SBP
- A best practices approach for developing the SBP

Panelists:
Paul A. Meyers, Aviation Management Consulting Group
Jeff A. Kohlman, Aviation Management Consulting Group

Due to a prior scheduling conflict, this webinar has been rescheduled to November 16 at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and will be offered FREE OF CHARGE.
