Member Alert: NATA Reviewing Final SMS Rule

The FAA released its final Safety Management Systems (SMS) Rule (faa.gov) today. As the NATA Regulatory Team combs through the 160-page document, it appears the FAA has thoughtfully considered industry input in their drafting. In particular, we note the extended timeline provided for industry to come into compliance and the accommodations for single pilot operators. NATA will provide more detailed information as we complete our analysis.

In addition, the FAA’s SMS Office will be on hand at NATA’s Air Charter Summit on June 25 to walk participants through the implementation of the rule and answer questions.
