NATA Statement on FY2017 Omnibus Agreement
Washington, DC, May 1, 2017 – Today, congressional appropriators released the details of omnibus spending legislation for Fiscal Year 2017. Under the agreement, expected to be approved this week, the FAA will receive $16.4 billion, $500 million more than requested and $127 million above last year.
The following is a statement by National Air Transportation Association President Martin H. Hiller:
“NATA thanks congressional appropriators for recognizing and funding general aviation priorities, including full funding for the contract tower program, additional funding for alternative fuels research, and more than one billion dollars to continue NextGen modernization. We appreciate the Committees’ continued oversight of air traffic control modernization through the NextGen Advisory Committee, as well as the inclusion of funding and language related to other GA priorities to accelerate aircraft certification and examine the impact of collegiate flight training on the future pilot workforce. Continued work by congressional appropriators is an important part of making the FAA an effective safety partner with the general aviation community.”
