Business Aviation Groups Advocate for SAF Provisions in EPA Program

Back NATA News / August 12, 2025

Last week, NATA and three other leading business aviation associations submitted comments to the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) advocating for common sense policy changes to the Renewable Fuel Standard program’s consideration of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

“The Trump Administration has an opportunity to unleash the power of American energy, agriculture, and innovation,” the coalition wrote to EPA Secretary Lee Zeldin, asking the Administration to “fix broken policies of the past and enact policies that will expand the production, distribution, and consumption of renewable jet fuel in the U.S.” Specifically, the groups recommended an enhanced program credit for SAF to stimulate private investment, the expansion of eligible feedstocks consistent with recently enacted legislation, and the removal of bureaucratic barriers.

Joining NATA on the coalition comments were the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), and Vertical Aviation International (VAI); together, the four groups highlighted the business aviation industry’s strong track record as an incubator for American innovation, U.S. global leadership, and broader industry efficiency.
