NATA Expands Safety 1st Training with Hazmat Will-Not-Carry Certification

Back NATA News / January 27, 2026

NATA announced the launch of the Hazmat Will Not Carry Certification, expanding Safety 1st offerings for aviation professionals through the Safety 1st Training Center.

The new certification provides foundational hazardous materials (dangerous goods) awareness for ground handling personnel and aircraft operators in Will Not Carry environments and may be used to support an aircraft operator’s broader hazardous materials training program. Using a practical, aviation-focused context, participants are introduced to hazmat terminology, the nine hazard classes, hazard labels versus handling labels, and common passenger and crew exceptions. The course reinforces awareness and recognition—not acceptance, classification, or packaging—and emphasizes appropriate response and escalation when suspected or undeclared hazardous materials are identified.

Delivered fully online through the Safety 1st Training Center, the certification integrates easily into existing training and safety programs. The Hazmat Will Not Carry Certification is available to Safety 1st subscribers and can be allocated immediately by logging in to the Safety 1st Training Center at www.safety1st.aero.
