The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a 30-day restriction on entry into the U.S. for certain travelers who have recently visited areas affected by an ongoing Ebola outbreak.

The temporary restrictions apply to non-U.S. passport holders who have been in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or South Sudan within the previous 21 days. U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful permanent residents are not subject to the restriction.

CDC is also enhancing screening and monitoring for travelers from affected areas and coordinating with airlines, international partners, and port-of-entry officials to identify individuals who may have been exposed.

The agency continues to assess the risk to the general U.S. public as low. The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern, citing suspected cases and deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and confirmed travel-related cases in Uganda.
