NATA Comments Seek Clearer, More Practical AIP Guidance

Back NATA News / August 18, 2026

NATA submitted comments on the FAA’s draft Airport Improvement Program Handbook, emphasizing the importance of clear, practical guidance for airport sponsors and the aviation businesses operating at public use airports. The updated handbook will guide the administration of federal funding for airport planning and infrastructure projects.

NATA’s recommendations focus on expanding flexibility for eligible environmental projects and ensuring airport businesses are meaningfully consulted when federally funded projects may affect their access, operations, or costs. These improvements would support greater transparency, reduce disputes, and help AIP investments deliver the greatest benefit to airports and their users.
