DOT Awards Nearly $615 Million for Airport Infrastructure Improvements

Back NATA News / August 25, 2026

The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced 238 Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants totaling nearly $615 million for projects across 42 states and two territories. The latest funding will support runway and taxiway improvements, terminal modernization, noise mitigation, air traffic control infrastructure, and other critical airport safety needs.

The announcement follows $870 million in AIP grants awarded earlier in August, bringing the two recent rounds of airport infrastructure funding to nearly $1.5 billion.

AIP funding may be used for eligible projects involving runways, taxiways, signage, lighting, markings, and other safety-related infrastructure. These investments help airports maintain safe and efficient facilities while supporting access, capacity, and economic activity in communities nationwide.
