Back NATA News / September 1, 2026

NATA is hosting a new webinar on October 7, 2026, for air charter operators to help them manage Federal Excise Tax application, collection and remission when a broker is involved in the transaction. In the 1-hour session, FET On Brokered Flights — Why Is It So Complicated?, attendees will gain an understanding of how the IRS regulations and guidance for excise taxes can lead to confusion and potential liability for the air carrier when a third-party broker is involved in the transaction.

Register now for this session to ensure you have an in-depth understanding of these issues and are prepared to implement procedures to minimize audit risks. Featured speaker Nel Stubbs will bring her depth of excise tax knowledge to this key issue facing air charter operators.

Nel Stubbs, founder of Stubbs Aviation Advisors and an NATA Air Charter Committee member, has provided federal excise tax expertise to the industry for four decades.

The webinar is free to NATA members and available to nonmembers for $75, which will be waived upon joining NATA.

In the air charter industry, the staff responsible for day-to-day application of the taxes and collection of information for quarterly filings are often not tax professionals. This webinar series is designed to help those with FET duties who may not have background in this area. This webinar is the second in a series of presentations designed to give the part 135 community a better understanding of the complex tax rules applicable to aviation.
