NATA welcomed 75 safety professionals, line service managers, operational leaders, trainers, and other industry representatives to the 10th Annual Ground Handling Safety Symposium (GHSS) last week in Fort Worth, Texas.
During the event, NATA President and CEO Curt Castagna announced Aviation Ground Operations Safety Day, which will be observed annually beginning on the third Tuesday of September 2027. The initiative will recognize ground handling professionals and encourage aviation businesses to dedicate time to safety education, workforce engagement, and the exchange of effective practices.
The two-day symposium also featured practical case studies, emerging safety technologies, and candid discussions about leadership, training, communication, fuel filtration, organizational change, and preventing unsafe practices from becoming normalized. Attendees left with strategies to strengthen safety performance and better connect frontline operational realities with leadership priorities.
