The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently published two Information for Operators documents (InFO) directed to part 91 and part 135 operators. InFO 26002 warns of the dangers presented by intoxicated passengers, especially in aircraft where the passengers are seated in proximity to the aircraft controls. Operators are encouraged to ensure flight crews are trained in recognizing impaired or intoxicated persons and that crews are empowered to take appropriate safety precautions. InFO 26003 recommends the incorporation of Spatial Disorientation (SD) training for pilots. Recent NTSB investigations continue to reveal SD as a contributing factor in accidents. FAA encourages operators to incorporate SD training into ground school, simulator, in-flight and refresher training for pilots.
NATA urges members to fully review and act upon the information within these documents.
