The FAA has announced the launch of a new eVTOL and Advanced Air Mobility Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) designed to accelerate innovation in electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft and other advanced air mobility operations across the United States. The initiative underscores the Administration’s commitment to advancing U.S. leadership in the AAM sector. Through the eIPP, the FAA will establish partnerships between state and local governments and private companies with demonstrated expertise in eVTOL development and manufacturing. Selected participants will test operational and programming concepts for air taxis, cargo delivery, medical transport, and regional flights using next-generation aircraft.
The three-year program aims to safely integrate electric air taxis and autonomous cargo aircraft into the National Airspace System (NAS), complementing existing transportation options, expanding mobility, and driving economic growth through AAM innovation. At least five partnerships will be selected for participation, each entering into agreements with the FAA to conduct demonstrations under strict safety standards. The resulting data will help shape future regulations and establish scalable models for nationwide eVTOL integration. Proposals are due by December 11, 2025, from state, local, tribal, and territorial governments interested in participating. NATA supports the safe, vetted integration of advanced technologies into the NAS and strongly agrees with the FAA’s emphasis that safety must remain the top priority as barriers are removed for these emerging modes of transportation.
