The Environment Committee supports the industry’s long-held goal to expand access to aviation, while embracing technological advancements and sound policies that promote a cleaner future. The committee also strives to highlight the achievements of aviation businesses to build on efficiency gains, sustainability, and other efforts to reduce its environmental impact

Maintenance

The Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technology Committee promotes the interests of the association’s members relative to aviation maintenance, repair stations, and aviation technology. The committee works in a cooperative and constructive manner with Congress and the Federal Aviation Administration in the monitoring and promulgation of regulatory and legislative language and procedures affecting aviation maintenance and operations.

Safety

The Safety Committee promotes general and business aviation ground handling and refueling safety and provides guidance to NATA’s highly successful Safety 1st programs and other aviation safety initiatives. The committee works in a cooperative and constructive manner with industry trade groups, aviation fuel suppliers, NATA members, and the Federal Aviation Administration in developing training programs, operational best practices, and guidelines for NATA member companies involved in ground handling and refueling operations.

The General Aviation Fuel Handling Subcommittee operates underneath NATA’s Safety Committee and focuses on matters related to fuel quality and handling as they pertain to the GA industry in the United States. In addition to providing technical expertise in the development of industry guidelines, standards, and operational best practices, it also serves to provide input into the work of the Energy Institute’s Aviation Committee.

Security

The Security Committee’s mission is to inform NATA’s strategic direction and foster discussion on current security issues, regulations, proposed rules, and other topics. The committee also promotes business success by facilitating relationship building between NATA members, regulators, and subject matter experts. Committee members serve as conduits for enhanced communications and information sharing between industry, the TSA/DHS/CBP and other Agencies, as well as voices for aviation security issues.

NATA Committee Handbook

Committees meet in-person at least once a year, often at one of our conferences, and virtually as decided by committee leadership. Each committee has a NATA team member liaison that serves as the connector between committee members and the Association.

A full description of the structure, responsibilities, and guidelines NATA’s committees follow can be found in the NATA Committee Handbook.
