NATA is advocating for aviation businesses participating in the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Energy Aviation Into-plane Reimbursement (AIR) Card Program as new requirements move toward implementation. NATA’s focus is ensuring changes are operationally, technologically, and financially feasible for aviation businesses and the critical missions they support. Key issues include requirements for fully itemized, priced, and signed receipts at every point of sale, as well as the reliability of a new document submission system for receipt uploads.
Following feedback from member companies, NATA successfully engaged with DLA Energy to secure greater industry engagement and a delay in the planned April 1 implementation. Merchant compliance is now scheduled for August 1, and DLA Energy has committed to regular meetings with AIR Card processors and merchants, providing the opportunity to raise operational concerns and identify practical solutions.
On June 3, we encourage AIR Card participants to attend NATA’s Day on the Hill to help inform Congressional oversight of the program.
