NATA and Modern Skies Coalition Support Key Step in ATC Modernization Effort

Back NATA News / December 9, 2025

Last week, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that Peraton has been selected as the Prime Integrator for the nation’s next-generation air traffic control modernization effort. Working in coordination with DOT and the FAA, Peraton will lead the deployment of a new air traffic control system designed to elevate safety, strengthen system resilience, and improve operational efficiency across the National Airspace System. The initiative is supported by a historic $12.5 billion federal investment that launches this multi-year modernization program.

As a member of the Modern Skies Coalition, NATA joins more than 50 aviation and aerospace organizations in commending the Administration for moving forward with the selection of an integrator to help guide the nation’s air traffic control modernization effort. This step moves our industry closer to deploying next-generation technology, strengthening critical infrastructure, and building a more resilient National Airspace System.

Sustaining this progress will require commitment to strengthening the workforce and modernizing the systems that support a safe, reliable airspace. NATA and the Coalition call on Congress to invest in controller staffing and training, provide needed resources for safety professionals, and accelerate updates to the technologies and infrastructure that will shape the future of our NAS.
