NATA Highlights Needed Update to DOT Air Taxi Registration

Back NATA News / September 3, 2025

NATA recently recommended updates to the DOT’s registration process for air taxi operators, responding to the department’s request for comments on OST Form 4507. The form, required for most on-demand air charter operators seeking economic authority, must be re-approved periodically by the government.

NATA called for two key changes in its comments. The Association recommended DOT update the certification to ensure alignment with applicable legal requirements and only require certification for necessary provisions. NATA also urged the DOT to adopt an electronic submission method to collect data entered on Form 4507 and create a publicly searchable database of registered air taxi operators, enabling easier verification of operator compliance. The comment period for OST Form 4507 is open through September 8, 2025, and interested parties are encouraged to submit their views for consideration.
