July 8, 2025
On June 23 and July 7, 2025, Parker Velcon issued two Product Safety Awareness Bulletins regarding a recall of certain 6-inch diameter fuel filter gaskets used in open-ended coalescers, separators, and other fuel elements manufactured between January 1 and June 20 of 2025. This recall applies to all aviation fuels, regardless of type or grade.
The initial notice addressed elements in storage, while the follow-up bulletin expands guidance to mandatory inspection and potential replacement of in-service elements that may be affected by gasket distortion. This proactive, industry-wide response follows reports of gasket deformation and fuel discoloration.
In response, Airlines for America (A4A)—publishers of ATA 103—issued Bulletin 2025.1, incorporating guidance from the two Parker Velcon bulletins and establishing an October 15, 2025, deadline for inspection of affected in-service elements.
Key actions for NATA members:
- Inspect all filter stock and in-service elements: Identify any affected part numbers and manufacturing dates.
- Follow Parker Velcon’s inspection instructions: Visually verify gasket condition. Elements with “Not Acceptable” gaskets must be replaced.
- Document all inspections and replacements: Use ATA forms 103.09A and/or 103.09B or their respective equivalents.
- Complete inspections of in-service elements by October 15, 2025.
As always, sites are reminded to follow all standard quality practices, including monitoring vessel sump conditions, tracking and correcting differential pressure, and promptly addressing and reporting any deviations from normal operations.
