Last week, NATA welcomed the DOT’s release of the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) National Strategy, a milestone framework guiding the safe integration of new aircraft and operations into the National Airspace System. The strategy sets forth a coordinated, long-term federal approach that prioritizes safety, infrastructure readiness, and workforce development, while aligning efforts across federal agencies and state, local, Tribal, and territorial governments.
“The Advanced Air Mobility National Strategy represents an important milestone in aligning innovation with practical implementation,” said Curt Castagna, NATA President and CEO. Castagna thanked Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy for advancing a coordinated national framework and emphasized the importance of collaboration with existing aviation businesses, airports, and communities to support scalable and safe AAM integration.
NATA highlighted that aviation businesses, including fixed-base operators, already operate across airports and heliports nationwide and bring decades of experience in safety management, infrastructure planning, workforce training, and community engagement. NATA welcomed the strategy’s recognition of the nation’s nearly 20,000 existing landing facilities as a strong foundation for near- and medium-term AAM operations and looks forward to continued engagement with DOT, the FAA, policymakers, and industry partners as the strategy moves toward implementation.
