NATA honors the life and legacy of Russell W. Meyer, Jr., former longtime chairman and CEO of Cessna Aircraft Company and a defining figure in the advancement of modern general aviation.

“NATA joins the aviation community in mourning the passing of Russell W. Meyer, Jr., former longtime chairman and CEO of Cessna Aircraft Company, whose leadership helped shape modern general aviation. Russ was a steadfast advocate for aviation businesses and the communities they serve, and his influence during pivotal moments for the industry leaves a lasting legacy across the aviation community,” said NATA President and CEO Curt Castagna.

“NATA was proud to join many across the industry in recognizing Russ throughout his lifetime for his extraordinary contributions, including presenting him with the William A. Ong Memorial Award in 2004, the Association’s highest honor. His spirit, leadership, and enduring belief in aviation’s promise will continue to inspire those who build, fly, and advocate for this industry for generations to come.”
