Senate Passes Government Spending Bill

Back NATA News / November 11, 2025

NATA applauds U.S. Senate action toward ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Last night, 8 Democratic senators joined Republicans to pass a continuing resolution temporarily funding the federal government through January 30, 2026. NATA has been urging Congress to end the harmful shutdown and restore critical funding for our nation’s aviation system; payment for our air traffic controllers, TSA and CBP personnel, and other public servants; and full restoration of operations and access for the general and business aviation sector.

Approved by a 60-40 vote, the bipartisan package also includes completed FY26 appropriations for agriculture, veterans, and the legislative branch; payment for U.S. military troops; temporary funding for SNAP programs; and guaranteed backpay for furloughed workers. The measure now moves to the House of Representatives, where a vote could come as early as Wednesday evening.
