NATA Expands Safety 1st Training with Human Trafficking Awareness Certification

Back NATA News / January 6, 2026

NATA announced the launch of the Human Trafficking Awareness in Aviation Certification, expanding Safety 1st offerings for aviation professionals through the Safety 1st Training Center.

The certification supports the Blue Lightning Initiative (BLI), a U.S. Department of Transportation-led effort to educate transportation professionals on recognizing and responding to potential indicators of human trafficking. Using practical, aviation-specific scenarios, the training reinforces awareness and prevention concepts—not intervention. Participants learn how to identify behavioral and situational indicators, understand appropriate response and reporting pathways, and maintain personal safety while supporting broader prevention efforts.

Delivered fully online through the Safety 1st Training Center, the certification integrates easily into existing training, safety, and compliance programs. Human Trafficking Awareness in Aviation Certification is available at no additional cost to Safety 1st subscribers and can be assigned immediately. To access the training, log in to the Safety 1st Training Center at www.safety1st.aero. Not a NATA Safety 1st subscriber? Get started today!
