FAA Seeks Industry Input on Ramp Worker Safety

Back Member Updates / June 11, 2026

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requesting input from aviation stakeholders as part of a comprehensive evaluation of airport ramp worker safety directed by Section 353 of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024.

As ramp worker safety provisions moved through the FAA Reauthorization Act, NATA worked closely with FAA officials and industry stakeholders to support a practical, data-driven approach that improves safety outcomes without creating unnecessary operational burdens.

The FAA’s ramp safety review survey focuses on identifying hazards and reducing accidents and incidents associated with aircraft ingestion and jet blast zones. To support this work, the agency has launched a national Ramp Worker Safety Questionnaire and is seeking feedback from frontline personnel, FBOs, operators, airports, airlines, manufacturers, labor organizations, and other aviation safety professionals.

NATA encourages members to participate and share their operational experience, observations, and best practices. The FAA will use survey responses to evaluate existing safety guidance, training, and technologies and develop recommendations to improve ramp safety across the industry.

NATA urges all members involved in ground operations, FBO personnel, line service, fueling, maintenance support, and airport operations to participate before the survey closes on July 3, 2026.
