NATA President and CEO Curt Castagna, C.M., and VP of Government Affairs Karen Huggard are at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh this week representing NATA, connecting with members, and meeting with industry partners, aviation stakeholders, and FAA officials.
As Industry Co-Chair of the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions (EAGLE) initiative, Castagna welcomed about 200 attendees to the EAGLE Forum alongside FAA Co-Chair Caitlin Locke, Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety. The forum featured updates on candidate fuel progress, comparative testing of fuels, transition planning, and the continued industry/agency collaboration necessary to achieve a safe and efficient transition to unleaded aviation fuel.
Castagna emphasized the importance of completing the FAA’s comparative testing and advancing peer-reviewed ASTM International specifications. These critical steps will help fuel distributors, FBOs, airports, and aircraft operators understand fuel compatibility, infrastructure requirements, and operational impacts before making deployment decisions.
