NATA Welcomes Senate Committee Approval of Aviation Legislation

Back NATA News / July 28, 2026

Last week, the Senate Commerce Committee advanced two bipartisan aviation bills endorsed by NATA that would increase Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) transparency and engagement with aviation stakeholders on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) deployment and pilot mental health. The Aviation Innovation and Global Competitiveness Act (S.3885) would streamline the FAA’s type certification process to safely accelerate aviation innovation through transparent timelines, regulatory clarity, and predictable guidance. The Aviation Medication Transparency Act of 2025 (S.3258) would require the FAA to publish and maintain a clear, accessible, and easily understood on-line list of approved prescription and over-the-counter medications for pilots and air traffic controllers. Designed in conjunction with aviation and medical industry stakeholders, the list would help pilots, controllers, and medical professionals better understand approved medications, timelines for stabilization, and applicable conditions for treatment.  NATA applauds Senate Commerce Committee approval of both bills and looks forward to full Senate consideration.
