New security protocols implemented by Shannon Airport (EINN) in Ireland have impacted general aviation arrival and departure procedures. Operators should carefully review requirements in advance to understand how evolving procedures may impact individual operations. Upon arrival, some general aviation flights will require additional security measures depending on the screening program at their airport of origin. For departures, removal of the previous GA/VIP screening process means that, for the time being, all general aviation passengers, crew, and baggage must utilize Central Search in the main terminal. A coalition of aviation associations including NATA is working with the airport to identify and implement a dedicated security solution that is more compatible with the operational characteristics of business aviation.
