The article outlines how informal cost-sharing, improper ownership structures, sham dry leases, and social media offers can lead to illegal charter activity. Jacqueline Rosser, NATA Senior Advisor, noted at NATA’s recent Air Charter Forum that consumers also need to understand that they cannot charter an aircraft and then find additional passengers to split the cost.
NATA continues working with the FAA Safe Air Charter Team, the NATA Air Charter Committee, NATA members, and industry partners to support education, awareness, and reporting around legal charter requirements.
