The FAA has issued a Notice of Proposed Order that would designate information shared through the U.S. Aviation Safety Team (USAST) and the Aerospace National Safety Issue Registry (ANSIR) as protected from public disclosure. The proposal would protect “safety and security information, reports, data, and work products” provided to the FAA, with the aim of supporting a proactive and collaborative, data-driven strategy to reduce the risk of fatal and non-fatal accidents.
