The FAA is accepting nominations through August 10 for membership on the Aircraft Noise Advisory Committee (ANAC), which will advise the agency during its first comprehensive review of aircraft noise policy in nearly 50 years. Qualified individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by an individual or organization.
ANAC will evaluate aircraft noise research, alternative noise metrics, the current 65-decibel exposure threshold, noise-mitigation strategies, and community engagement practices. The committee will include representatives from air carriers, airport owners and operators, aircraft and engine manufacturers, advanced air mobility, higher education, and communities near airports.
Nomination packages must be limited to two pages and include the nominee’s contact information and stakeholder category, a letter of support, a brief biography, and a statement confirming eligibility. Materials should be submitted to aircraftnoiseadvisorycommittee@faa.gov. Review the nomination requirements.
