The FAA has issued Order JO 7200.23E, Processing of Unmanned Aircraft Systems Requests, effective October 31, 2026. The order updates agency procedures for reviewing drone airspace authorizations and waivers, including requests involving airport Class E surface airspace, vertical structure inspections, and beyond visual line of sight operations. It also establishes a requirement for all Part 91 UAS approvals to incorporate a waiver of the see-and-avoid provisions in § 91.113(b). Airports and aviation businesses conducting or coordinating drone operations should review the updated order.
