NATA has implemented an update to its Sustainability Standard for Aviation Businesses. Certifications at Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 are now issued on a two-year cycle, reducing the administrative burden associated with annual applications at these levels. Organizations certified in 2026 at any of these tiers will maintain their certification status through 2028. At the end of the two-year term, participants must pursue recertification to maintain their tier designation; organizations that do not meet renewal requirements may be decertified.
The two-year certification structure supports a standard that remains current and reflects continuous improvement within the industry, while maintaining its core purpose of encouraging sustainable practices in a flexible manner. Informed by guidance from NATA’s Environment Committee, the update provides organizations with sufficient time to implement, track, and build upon their sustainability initiatives. Learn More.
