NATA Welcomes Legislation to Restore SAF Tax Credit Value

Back NATA News / December 9, 2025

Today, NATA applauded the introduction of the Securing America’s Fuel (SAF) Act in U.S. House of Representatives. The SAF Act would extend the entire 45Z tax credit through 2033 and restore the full value of the Clean Fuel Production Credit for SAF.

“Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) represents one of America’s greatest opportunities—uniting our agricultural, energy, and aviation sectors behind a more secure economic and innovative future. The Securing America’s Fuels Act restores a thoughtful policy framework that supports rural communities, fosters domestic job creation, and keeps America competitive in a rapidly growing global market by incentivizing long-term investment in U.S. SAF production. NATA recognizes the bipartisan leadership of Representatives Mike Flood (R-NE), Sharice Davids (D-KS), Troy Carter (D-LA) and Tracey Mann (R-KS) in introducing the SAF Act. We urge Congress to pass this legislation without delay,” stated NATA President and CEO Curt Castagna.

The bill’s sponsors project significant economic and environmental benefits as highlighted in Representative Sharice Davids’ press announcement. National efforts to scale domestic SAF production could create an estimated 33,000 construction jobs over five years, sustain 4,500 permanent operations positions, and support an additional 60,000 jobs across agriculture and logistics by 2030. Beyond its economic impact, SAF can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 percent while leveraging existing aviation infrastructure—delivering meaningful environmental benefits without requiring major system overhauls.
