NATA Unveils “No Corporation” Grassroots Campaign Against ATC Privatization
|
|
Last Friday, NATA launched a grassroots campaign in response to the House Transportation Committee’s FAA reauthorization proposal to establish a user fee-funded air traffic control corporation. The legislation — which poses a significant threat to the entire general aviation community — will be considered Thursday, February 11, by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. NATA created a special webpage — www.nata.aero/nocorporation — providing additional information and easy steps general aviation businesses can take to contact their elected representatives in opposition to this proposal. NATA President Tom Hendricks urges the general aviation community to support this fight stating, “The hour has rarely been graver for general aviation and we are calling on all aviation businesses to join us. Your immediate personal outreach to your elected representatives is critical to staving off the corporatization of ATC and the imposition of user fees on segments of general aviation. We want make it clear that industry insiders don’t get to decide the future of our nation’s air traffic control system.”

NATA Participates in Unleaded Avgas Meetings
|
|
Last week, NATA staff participated in several meetings related to the development of unleaded aviation fuel through the Piston Aviation Fuel Initiative (PAFI). On Tuesday and Wednesday, the PAFI Steering Group (PSG) discussed the progress, plan, and schedule of Phase I: Lab Tests, Emissions & Toxicology Assessments and steps for Phase II which include full scale engine and aircraft testing. Phase II testing is scheduled to occur toward the end of 2016 into 2018. NATA also attended the “New Unleaded Avgas Deployment” meeting on Thursday with FAA and industry representatives. During this meeting, the FAA and industry addressed deployment issues related to the transition from 100LL to unleaded Avgas. Tom Hendricks to Discuss ATC Corporatization at 2016 AACA Convention and Tradeshow

NATA President and CEO Tom Hendricks will speak tomorrow at the Alaska Air Carrier Association Convention and Tradeshow. All convention attendees are invited to a presentation by Tom at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9th. Tom’s presentation will cover the FAA reauthorization, the House proposal to create a user fee-funded ATC and NATA’s grassroots campaign to fight the proposed legislation. Safety 1st Encourages Misfueling Prevention Awareness

NATA Safety 1st continues its bi-weekly series of blog posts featuring frequently asked questions and answers about our online training. The latest installment covers the recent launch of the free Safety 1st General Aviation Misfueling Prevention Program: Awareness Training for Pilots, Line Service Professionals, FBO Managers and Customer Service Representatives. Deadline for Industry Excellence Awards Extended to February 22nd

There’s still time to submit nominations to NATA for the 2015 Industry Excellence Awards. Help NATA recognize the individuals, offices, and organizations demonstrating excellence in their field and the highest level of customer service to the general aviation community. Each year, NATA presents awards to the exceptional individuals and companies that have helped to improve the general aviation community. The recipients of these awards are chosen based upon NATA member-submitted nominations. The Industry Excellence Awards, along with the AMT Employer Awards, will be presented at a luncheon held during NATA’s Aviation Business Conference in June 2016. First Annual Meetings Underway for Several NATA Committees

NATA’s Airport Business Committee met last month in Tampa, FL. The committee discussed subcommittee goals for membership and new education tools, new NATA and Safety 1st products, and agenda items for the upcoming 2016 Aviation Business Conference.
The Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technology Committee meets at NATA headquarters this week. Agenda items include regulatory updates from two FAA Flight Standards Service (AFS) managers and the Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC), who will review the consistency of regulatory interpretation implementation. Additionally, committee members will continue developing session topics for the 2016 Aviation Business Conference.

NATA Members Aviation Dynamix and Wichita Airport Authority to Build New Hangar
|
| |
Aviation Dynamix, an aircraft and helicopter ferrying and delivery company, plans to build a hangar at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport. Under a separate limited liability company named Hangar Dynamix, the company will use the 22,000-square-foot hangar to store airplanes and helicopters for delivery as well as transient aircraft, President Andre Grosvenor said. The new hangar will be located roughly east of the new terminal at Eisenhower. Grosvenor said he plans to move into the new hangar in the next six to eight months. For more information, click here.
