ACRP Research Report on Airports Providing Aircraft Fueling Services is Now Available
|
|
On March 12, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Airport Cooperative Research Program’s (ACRP) Research Report 192: “Airport Management Guide for Providing Aircraft Fueling Services” was published on the TRB’s webpage. The research report assists airports that are considering or are currently providing fueling services directly to end users. The report includes detailed information on inventory controls, branded and unbranded fuel products, regulatory requirements, operating costs, customer service, and a methodology that allows airports to evaluate whether they should provide fuel service. NATA proudly served on the project panel that provided input and recommendations on this research report, and we believe this is a valuable source of information for airports.

NATA Applauds White House Pick for FAA Administrator Nomination
|
|
NATA released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s intent to nominate Stephen M. Dickson as Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. “Stephen Dickson is a widely recognized and respected senior aviation leader who’s been closely involved with the development of the NextGen Air Traffic Control System. The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) looks forward to continued collaboration with FAA leadership to further our shared goals of safety, improving the national airspace system, and supporting aviation businesses,” stated NATA President Gary Dempsey.
Dickson retired from Delta Air Lines after serving as a Captain and most recently as Senior Vice President-Flight Operations with oversight of the safety and operational performance of Delta’s global flight operations. He’s been a steadfast advocate for safety and modernization, having served as chairman of several industry stakeholder groups and two Federal Advisory Committees: The Air Traffic Management Advisory Committee (ATMAC) and the NextGen Implementation Task Force.

FAA and UK Maintenance Implementing Procedures (MIP)
|

On March 14, the United Kingdom’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the FAA agreed to new implementation procedures under the bilateral aviation safety agreement (BASA) between the UK and the United States.
The agreements will ensure the level of cooperation between the two authorities and their systems will remain the same if the UK leaves the EU under a hard Brexit. The MIP has not been published by the FAA, since there are still Brexit negotiations being conducted by the UK and the separation date has been extended for a few weeks, from late March to early April 2019.
The signed MIP is in place as a backup plan in case there is no soft Brexit agreed to. In the meantime, current EU laws are still in place for all aircraft and parts that fall under EASA oversight.

Train Your QC Team or Enhance Your Understanding of Fuel Quality Control | Become a Certified QC Inspector with NATA Workshop
|
Next month, the Certified QC Inspector Workshop will provide attendees with a comprehensive advanced education in fuel handling topics. On April 23-24 (Ft. Worth, TX), attendees will enhance their knowledge on fuel characteristics, filtration, sampling and testing, maintenance, and setting up a conformant inspection program. Additionally, this course will cover the importance of QC record keeping and documentation, along with how to prepare for a QC audit. NATA will offer this workshop again on September 10-11 in Van Nuys, CA.

Women in Aviation International (WAI) Concludes Their Annual Conference
|
|
The 30th Annual International Women in Aviation Conference accomplished its goal to connect, engage and inspire at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California, on March 14-16, according to Association officials. This year marked 30 years since WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian hosted the first conference in Prescott, Arizona, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at the nearby Sheraton Hotel. “No one knew what to expect at that first conference, but after a weekend of networking, it was clear there was a need for an event where women in the aviation industry could interact,” says Chabrian. “Soon, the conference became an annual event, and in December 1994, Women in Aviation International was established as a professional, non-profit organization.” Read more.

Signature Flight Support Strikes a Deal with Citation Jet Pilots Association (CJP)

Signature Flight Support announced that it has signed a flight support and fueling agreement with the Citation Jet Pilots Association (CJP), which represents over 1,000 members with more than 600 Citation aircraft. Commenting on the agreement, Shawn Hall, Chief Commercial Officer for Signature Flight Support stated, “We could not be more excited to partner with CJP and welcome its 1,000 plus members to the Signature network. This agreement represents a great option for aircraft owners/operators to benefit from the Signature network and to experience our differentiated service offerings. Signature will continue to offer similar programs to industry partners as we extend our brand offerings to the business and general aviation industry.” Read more.

Privaira Joins the ACSF, Enrolls in ASAP
|

Last week, the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) announced that Privaira, a charter operator based in Boca Raton, Florida, joined ACSF. Privaira is a private charter operator focused on a serving a distinctive flying clientele. The company is yet one more aviation operation that now actively participates in the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), created in cooperation between ACSF and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Along with 195 other member organizations, Privaira supports ACSF’s vision to advance and enable the highest levels of safety in personal and business aviation through the promotion and facilitation of risk management programs.
