Alert: Aircraft Owners and Operators Participating in FAA’s GA Survey
For some operators, a postcard inviting them to take an FAA GA survey may have contained incorrect information. If you were one of the operators impacted by this issue, you will receive a corrected letter and paper survey in the mail within the next few days.
If you have questions, please contact Tetra Tech at 1-800-826-1797 or email infoaviationsurvey@tetratech.com. You may also email the FAA directly at GASurvey@faa.gov.
The FAA has once again contracted with Tetra Tech, an independent research firm, to conduct the survey. Critical information from this survey is used by the FAA, NTSB, and other federal government agencies—as well as industry, trade associations, private businesses, and universities. Many aviation associations use and support this survey, including AOPA, EAA, GAMA, HAI, LAMA, NAAA, NATA, NBAA, and RACCA.

NATA Co-Hosts Summit Addressing Illegal Charter in Tennessee
NATA participated in an Illegal Charter Summit on April 11th in Nashville, TN. The Association co-hosted the summit, the second of its kind, with the FAA and NBAA to discuss concerns with illegal charter operations. Part 91 and Part 135 operators, in addition to representatives from the FAA’s Flight Standard Office and frontline inspectors attended and addressed the challenges of educating consumers and enforcing the regulations. It was suggested that operators and passengers can help report instances of suspected illegal charter activity via the Illegal Charter Hotline. The hotline was recently directed to Ryan Waguespack, NATA Vice President of Aircraft Management, Air Charter Services, and MROs who was in attendance.

Silverhawk Aviation Proves Itself ‘Nebraska Strong’
Recent spring floods were catastrophic for Midwest, where heavy rainfall and rapid snowmelt caused nearly unprecedented flooding across the Missouri River Basin. So devastating were the floods that, in Nebraska alone, three quarters of the state's 93 counties declared an emergency in their wake.
With so much storm-related devastation and dislocation, one local Air Charter Safety Foundation member decided to live up to the state’s unofficial motto of “Nebraska Strong” and exhibit some real generosity. This past March, during the height of the flooding, the Lincoln-based charter operator, Silverhawk Aviation, took some action that changed the lives and welfare of hundreds of the state’s farmers and families.
When rising floodwaters isolated residents of Fremont—a small community in eastern Nebraska—11 Silverhawk Aviation pilots and crew used five of the company’s airplanes to make dozens of emergency flights between Fremont and Lincoln—completely free of charge to the passengers on board. During the flooding’s aftermath, and over the course of a weekend, Silverhawk flew a total of 30 legs, helping to transport approximately 170 people and supplies into and out of communities that were desperately in need of assistance.
