NATA President to Airports, Join GA to Defeat “Airlinization” of ATC System
|
|
Last week, NATA President Martin H. Hiller encouraged the Georgia airports community to join general aviation’s effort to defeat the airline industry initiative to take over the air traffic control system.
Hiller’s remarks, delivered at the 2017 Georgia Airports Association Conference in Savannah, emphasized the importance of unity within the airport community, “If there is one message to be taken away from today, it is that airports must join with their tenants and engage with their local Members of Congress if we are to prevent the ‘airlinization’ of our air traffic control system,” stated Hiller.

NATA’s Aviation Business Roundtable on November 7th and 8th in Washington DC will examine FBO pricing with AOPA's General Counsel Ken Mead, AAAE’s Joel Bacon, fueling companies and FBOs. The session will discuss the pricing of fuel, ramp fees and other aeronautical services, industry consolidation, the airport sponsor-tenant relationship, and the customer perspective.

NATA-Med powered by AirDocs improves operational safety and provides inflight assistance 24/7. This program — resourced by actual flight surgeons — was created by Harvey Watt & Company, in conjunction with former NASA/Space Shuttle Recovery Team Senior & Chief Flight Surgeons, and US Space Command/USAFR Senior Flight Surgeons. The Program delivers aid to Part 135, Part 125, Part 91 and Part 91K operators before, during and after flights:
- Preflight coverage includes the creation and maintenance of on-board medical kits appropriate for each aircraft and its mission, crew medical kit training, flight planning with real-time medical and travel information for locations on itinerary and Go/No Go Assessments.
- Inflight, users receive emergency advice, provided by flight surgeons.
- Post flight, the Program can coordinate ground medical assets and evacuations when appropriate and incident documentation reporting will be provided to management within twenty-four hours of the event.

FAA Fly Safe: Prevent Loss of Control Accidents
|

The FAA, along with NATA and other general aviation groups, have launched a national safety campaign this flying season called #FlySafe to educate the GA community on how to prevent Loss of Control (LOC) accidents. LOC can result when an aircraft enters a flight regime that is outside its normal flight envelope and may quickly develop into a stall or spin. The latest campaign offers training and resources on how to survive a crash.

On November 14th and 15th, NATA will hold its final 2017 Advanced Line Service (ALS) Workshop at Base Operations Page Field in Fort Myers, FL. This popular two-day workshop includes discussions on motivation and leadership techniques, customer service training and the impact of human factors on aviation ground handling. In addition, attendees will learn about advanced aviation fuel handling and quality control, including hands-on training.

NATA Member Sonoma Jet Center Launches Fund for Employees Impacted by Northern California Wildfires
|

Last week, Sonoma Jet Center announced a $10,000 commitment and established a fund to support colleagues who suffered losses in the northern California wildfires. Fortunately, wildfires have only minimally impacted Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (KSTS) operations with power outages and poor visibility. Sonoma Jet Center has been fully operational and supporting all aviation and relief operations. “Our entire community is just beginning to understand the level of devastation caused by these wildfires and we want to help where we can,” says Josh Hochberg, Owner and President of Sonoma Jet Center. National Jets Celebrates 70th Anniversary and DCA Gateway FBO Approval
|

National Jets is celebrating its 70th anniversary and its approval as Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International’s (FLL) newest DCA Gateway FBO under the DCA Access Standard Security Program that governs business aviation access to Washington’s Reagan National Airport. Operations date back to 1947 with the Durham Flying Club and its initial leasehold at FLL began in 1961. ACSF Announces New Member to Board of Governors
|

Last week, the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) appointed Richard Gomez, Vice President of Aviation Solutions at MedAire to the ACSF Board of Governors. After almost 20 years within the airline industry in Senior Management, Richard joined MedAire in 2005 to lead its global aviation training platform that includes programs designed to educate crew members managing medical events as well as assisting customers with disabilities. Mr. Gomez was responsible for curriculum development and maintenance of 15 certified medical training programs that include regulatory oversight by such bodies as EASA, FAA and CAA, AHA, ERC and DOT. Richard joined MedAire to oversee their quality system and compliance to ISO 9001 standards, day-to-day operations of Education Services including the oversight and management of 100 plus medical instructors located worldwide. Additionally, Richard is responsible for all aviation products and services that MedAire offers to the Business General Aviation customers. Richard’s knowledge, experience and leadership in the aviation industry will be a tremendous benefit to the foundation’s ongoing and future activities,” said ACSF President Bryan Burns.
