NATA Award Recognizes Employers that Encourage and Support Aviation Maintenance Technician Training

Last week, NATA announced the recipients of the 2019 Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Employer Recognition Awards. These annual awards are presented to companies that provide qualified new and recurrent AMT training to their employees. Award winners receive either a one, three, or five-star award depending on the percentage of employed AMTs meeting the training requirements. This year, NATA is granting awards to 21 companies, including nine recipients that will have been recognized for five consecutive years as AMT Employer Recognition Award recipients.

“For the past seven years, NATA has continued to highlight businesses that encourage and support their maintenance personnel with top-tier training. This award signifies the value of investing in a critical subset of the aviation workforce by providing training that attracts, retains, and grows our industry,” stated NATA President Gary Dempsey.

On June 18th, the recipients will be recognized at the NATA Industry Excellence Awards Luncheon Presentation held in conjunction with the 2019 Annual Meeting and Aviation Business Conference. The full list of 2019 AMT Employer Recognition Award winners is available here.

FAA ADS-B Rebates Have All Been Reserved

The last few hundred of the $500 Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) rebate reservations offered to general aviation aircraft owners by the FAA are gone. Since launching the program in September 2016, the FAA has offered 20,000 rebates to qualified applicants. Should any of the reservations be returned, the agency will make them available each Wednesday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on a first-come, first-served basis.

The FAA rebates were made available to encourage owners of fixed-wing, single-engine piston aircraft to equip with ADS-B Out avionics, which will be required in certain, controlled airspace by Jan. 1, 2020.

Aircraft owners need to follow five steps to receive the $500 rebate:

  -  Purchase the equipment and schedule its installation.

  -  Obtain a Rebate Reservation Code by reserving a position online.
  -  Have the equipment installed.
  -  Conduct the required equipment performance validation and get an Incentive Code.'
  -  Claim the $500 rebate online using the Rebate Reservation Code and Incentive Code.

In addition to the ADS-B Rebate reservation portal, the FAA's Equip ADS-B website lists FAA-certified ADS-B equipment and features an equipage database searchable by aircraft type and model.

NATA Programs Assist with Pilot Retention

Did you know that NATA offers three Programs tailored for air charter businesses to help assist with pilot acquisition and retention?

Loss of License Insurance Program further protects your pilots — a crucial advantage in the current challenging environment for pilot staffing and retention. All participants are treated as one entity through the NATA plan, allowing for an easy underwriting experience and premium reductions created by the larger buying pool.

-  The NATA FAA Medical Certification Services benefit program is available to all Part 135 air carriers and their pilots, as well as Part 91 corporate flight departments and their pilots, for a budget-friendly flat, per-pilot monthly fee. NATA members are eligible for a significant additional discount.

-  NATA-Med powered by AirDocs is an exclusive program that improves operational safety and inflight assistance, 24/7. NATA-Med reduces liability by giving pilots inflight access to medical personnel. In addition, the service helps avoid costly and unnecessary flight diversions and coordinates ground assets post flight. The program assists before, during, and after flights.
