NATA Provides Members DEF Warning Decals
Last week, NATA sent out free Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) decals to its members in response to recent DEF contamination incidents that have led to inflight emergencies. These decals can be used to clearly label storage containers and transfer equipment specifically for DEF use to avoid future contamination emergencies.
A core component of NATA’s mission is to empower our members to operate safely. We take the risk of DEF contamination very seriously and are pleased to provide the following to members in addition to the decals:
- Free DEF Contamination Prevention training, available upon request at Safety1st@nata.aero.
- A resource page with alerts, operational best practices, and fact sheets, which can be found at https://www.nata.aero/advocacy/DEF-Awareness.
If you are looking for more ways to enhance safety on your ramp, please look at our cloud-based digital Fuel Quality Control Management System that replaces the pen and paper approach to fuel farm and refueling equipment inspection and maintenance.
Information on how to get started with this system is available at www.nata.aero/Safety1st.

NATA Webinars | Airport Tax Revenue Diversion, September 24 at 2PM EST
On Tuesday, September 24th at 2PM EST, join NATA’s Vice President of Government & Public Affairs, Jonathon Freye, in the Association’s “Airport Tax Revenue Diversion” webinar. At airports across the United States, revenue intended for airport use is being improperly diverted elsewhere. Since 1987, a federal law has required that tax revenues generated by the sale of aviation fuel be remitted to the airport for operational expenses and capital improvement, but over one hundred state and local tax jurisdictions around the country are not in compliance with federal law. That money could otherwise be used for airport construction projects that support aviation businesses. Register for the webinar today to learn the specifics of the issue and how you can take action.
