nullFinal Report to Improve Pilot Testing

The Airman Testing Standards and Training Working Group (ATSWG) submitted a final report to the Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC) containing the Airman Certification Standards (ACS) documents for Private, Commercial and Instructor certificates and Instrument rating.  Included in the report is a plan to consolidate current FAA handbooks and guidance material to align with the ACS.  The new ACS will replace the current the Practical Test Standards (PTS) by integrating the required knowledge, practical and risk management skills into a single format. The FAA plans to issue a Notice in the Federal Register with a request for comments in the next couple of months. Click here to read the final report.

nullSafety 1st Management Program Transitioned to NATA Member Benefit

The NATA Safety 1st Management System resources are now available to all members as a benefit. The Safety 1st Management System was originally introduced as a enrollment program designed to provide resources and assistance to member companies developing and implementing Safety Management Systems. nullOregon Governor Celebrates General Aviation with Proclamation

Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber has declared October 2013 as Aviation Appreciation Month across the state. In the proclamation, Governor Kitzhaber outlines aviation’s contributions to the state’s economy and communities, stating that Oregon’s 97 public-use airports contribute over $2 billion in economic impact attributable to the state’s aviation industry. There are over 400 aviation related businesses in 78 cities throughout the state that account for 12,000 jobs.
