NATA Elects New Board of Directors Members and Announces New Leadership
Today at its annual Membership Meeting, the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) announced the selection of Gary Dempsey, President, Flight Services – The Americas, Jet Aviation Holdings USA, Inc., as Chair of the NATA Board of Directors. The association named Andy Priester, President and Chief Executive Officer, Priester Aviation, board Vice-Chair and Gregory Schmidt, President and Chief Executive Officer, Pentastar Aviation as Treasurer.
NATA also elected three new members to its board of directors and re-elected one current board member: Curt Castagna, President and Chief Executive Officer, Aerolease/Aeroplex Group; Guy Hill, Jr., Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, Hill Aircraft; Marty Hiller, Owner and Partner of Marathon Jet Center; and Mark Larsen, Vice President – Large Fleet, Fractional Fleets, & Government Contracts, StandardAero Business Aviation.
Moran To Join Members of Congress and Industry Fly-In
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) will join other Members of Congress to address attendees of the Aviation Business and Legislative Conference at the Members of Congress and Industry Fly-In on Wednesday, March 5. Senator Moran, along with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), was instrumental in pushing legislation through Congress that gave the FAA the ability to reprogram existing funds within the agency’s budget to apply towards contract towers slated for closure and air traffic controllers that faced furloughs. GAO Study on Pilot Shortage
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a study on the current and future availability of airline pilots. The report identifies the supply and demand for airline pilots as well as steps government and industry are taking to increase the pilot population. Click here to read the full report.
NATA Names William Deere as Senior Vice President for Government and External Affairs
NATA is pleased to announce the selection of William (Bill) Deere as the association’s Senior Vice President for Government and External Affairs. Deere will lead NATA’s policy, strategy and advocacy efforts. “Bill Deere’s association expertise and Hill insight will be valuable assets to NATA.
