 Comments on the AOPA Petition to Amend the FAA's Flying Club Policy Made Public
The FAA has now made public the comments filed in response to AOPA's proposed changes to policy to allow flying clubs to compensate instructors and mechanics. Current policy limits such compensation to reduced club dues or aircraft time. There were only eleven respondents and the comments were mostly positive. In its comments NATA noted the proposal "could strengthen the protections provided for aviation businesses by building increased awareness by airport sponsors of their role in preventing flying clubs from acting like flight schools, FBOs and other commercial aeronautical service providers." NATA Fall Committee Meetings – Register Now
NATA 2015 Fall Committee Meetings are scheduled for October 6th and 7th at NATA headquarters in Washington, D.C. On Tuesday, October 6th, the Airport Business and Safety 1st Committees will meet and on Wednesday, October 7th, the Air Charter and Maintenance Committee meetings will take place. Fed Grant Approved for Noise Study at Teterboro Airport
The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved a grant of $2.3 million to fund a noise study at Teterboro Airport, part of a larger study involving the region’s airports, authorities said on Friday. A Port Authority spokeswoman said the agency is also conducting studies at Newark Liberty International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport. Read further.

Landmark Aviation Names Director of MRO Sales

Safety 1st Certified Trainer Program – Begins in September
The final NATA Safety 1st Certified Trainer Program (CTP) for 2015 will begin in September. The CTP is comprised of six instructor-led, online classes that provide the foundational knowledge and skills required to be an effective trainer. These classes are approximately an hour and a half in length and occur over a three-month period. As an online course, the CTP saves participants time away from work and the cost of travel typically associated with in-person seminars and training classes. The course is derived from basic learning and on-the-job training theory and includes practical implementation strategies that allow attendees to have an immediate positive impact on training and morale.
