 Tom Hendricks to Discuss State of the Industry at NBAA 2015
NATA President and CEO Tom Hendricks and staff will be on hand at NBAA 2015 — November 17th – 19th in Las Vegas, N.V. — meeting with member companies and participating in industry events. House Approves NATA Supported Fuel Fraud Amendment in Highway Bill
Last week, the House of Representatives approved an amendment to the highway bill offered by Representative Mike Pompeo (R-KS) requiring the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a study of diversions of non-commercial jet fuel tax revenues to the Highway Trust Fund. In a press release, NATA President Tom Hendricks praised Representative Pompeo’s leadership on this issue noting that the amendment, “provides critical visibility to enable Congress to fully understand the impact of this revenue diversion to general aviation consumers, businesses and the Airport and Airway Trust Fund.” Read NATA’s letter of support to Representative Pompeo. House and Senate leaders are now working on a final version of the bill before current highway funding expires November 20th.
NATA Supports the FAA’s Position Regarding Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICAs)
On November 4th, NATA also submitted comments to the FAA on AC 20-ICA and the latest revision to FAA Order 8110.54B. NATA was pleased to see the FAA codify legal interpretations and policy letters into these documents. The definition and availability of ICA’s has impacted our members for a long time. This is a first step by the FAA to clarify and correct the long standing practice of commercial restrictions to ICAs by manufacturers.
NATA Comments on Registration Requirements for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
Last week, NATA submitted comments on a rule by the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration titled “Clarification of the Applicability of Aircraft Registration Requirements for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Request for Information Regarding Electronic Registration for UAS.” Responding on behalf of NATA, Megan Eisenstein, Senior Manager for Regulatory Affairs observed, "NATA supports the DOT and FAA requiring registration and marking to identify and track a UAS to its operator; however, the limits of these requirements must be acknowledged…Registration and marking are a good first step, but additional efforts are necessary to protect the safety of manned aircraft. Education of UAS owners and operators on the significant safety implications negligent operations can have for manned aircraft is essential.” For further information, please contact meisenstein@nata.aero. NATA and Landmark Aviation Host South Carolina Town Hall
NATA's Tom Hendricks and Ben Wells, GM of Landmark Aviation Charleston, South Carolina, hosted a town hall meeting for local general aviation businesses and airports. Tom discussed the state of the industry, recent regulations and potential legislation impacting general aviation businesses. NATA Member, Hill Aircraft Turns 60!
Hill Aircraft recently celebrated its 60th anniversary with a block party. Serving Fulton County Airport (KFTY), the FBO was originally founded in 1955 by Guy Hill, Sr., a decorated Navy pilot, aircraft mechanic and politician. His children, Guy Hill Jr. and Anna Hill Miller, praised their father’s legacy and dedication to the aviation industry.
Epps Aviation Lease Extended, New Avionics Installation Facility Planned
Epps Aviation, an independent full-service FBO at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK) in Atlanta, is pleased to announce that its lease with DeKalb County is renewed until March 31, 2040. With this 25 year extension, Epps Aviation can now begin building a new avionics installation facility. Read more.
