NATA Honors Leadership and Dedication of GAO’s Dillingham Following Retirement Announcement
|
|
Dr. Gerald Dillingham, Director of Civil Aviation Issues for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has announced that, after 40 years of service, he will be retiring from the agency.
Known to all, Dr. Dillingham “brought bipartisanship and fairness when engaging in discussion with all facets of the industry to produce results that were highly regarded and thorough in their execution,” stated NATA President Marty Hiller in a congratulatory letter to the director.
NATA worked closely with Dr. Dillingham, most recently on a study to quantify the dramatic impact of revenue diversion which undermined the viability of the Airport and Airway Trust Fund, as well as the agency’s efforts to research the impact of privatizing our nation’s air traffic control system. “NATA and its member companies are sincerely appreciative of Dr. Dillingham's leadership and collaboration with the general aviation community. We look forward to building upon the groundwork you developed with the GAO to ensure U.S. aviation maintains its status as the gold standard throughout the world,” Hiller concluded.

Aircraft Electronics Association President Paula Derks Announces Retirement Plans | NATA Appreciates Long-Term Partnership with Aviation Businesses

Last week at the AEA Convention, Paula Derks announced that she will retire next year. She was named the association's president in 1996. NATA congratulates Paula and appreciates her partnership and dedicated service to the aviation business community. Derks’ retirement will follow next year’s AEA Convention in Palm Springs, California.
"I have stood at this podium every year for the last 22 years as the president of this association, and prior to that, I have worked for this great organization since the day I graduated from college nearly 40 years ago," Derks said during the opening session. "As you might imagine, the AEA is my passion. Aside from my family and my faith, the AEA is a huge part of my life. I will be retiring approximately 12 months from now. This may seem unusual to announce 12 months out, but I want this succession to be as smooth as possible for the AEA. This 12-month transition will allow the board of directors time for a thoughtful and strategic search for the next president. It is the right time for me, and it's the right time for the next generation of executive leadership."

Silver Air Joins the Air Charter Safety Foundation
|

The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) is pleased to announce that Fresno-based Silver Air is the newest charter operator to join the ACSF. Along with 161 other companies, Silver Air supports the ACSF’s vision to promote and enable the highest levels of safety in personal and business aviation through the promotion and facilitation of risk management programs. “Silver Air is built around a top-down culture of safety that expects and encourages clear, open dialogue, empowering every team member to be an active contributor to the welfare of their passengers. We are delighted that they will be participating in the ACSF-ASAP program,” said ACSF President Bryan Burns.
The ACSF has developed the industry audit standard, an all-inclusive audit tailored for Part 135 and 91K operators that acts as a detailed gap analysis of an operator’s management practices. The audit program consists of a thorough review of an operator’s processes, procedures and regulatory compliance and the operator’s implementation of and adherence to a safety management system.
