nullNATA Applauds the Long-Awaited Repair Station Security Final Rule

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) released the long awaited Aircraft Repair Station Security regulation last week.  The final rule will appear in Monday’s Federal Register.

The regulation requires repair stations certificated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under 14 CFR Part 145 to comply with TSA security directives and implement security measures as directed by TSA. It also allows TSA and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials to conduct security inspections in these facilities. Most importantly the publishing of this rule will now lift the long standing ban on certification of repair stations overseas. Click here to read NATA’s press release.

nullState Legislatures Convening for 2014 Legislative Sessions

As 2014 shapes up to be a busy year for aviation, most state legislatures are reconvening for their 2014 legislative sessions. In January, 37 state legislatures are assembling, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington.  Six states – Arkansas, Connecticut, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon and Wyoming – plan to resume their legislative sessions in February. Florida and Louisiana legislators head back to work in March and North Carolina’s legislative session begins in May. Montana, Nevada, North Dakota and Texas do not have legislative sessions in even numbered years.

The NATA State Advocacy Network is working with MultiState Associates on state and local issues, and has provided the network with an easy access chart containing more information about state legislature dates, Governors and members of the state assemblies.  For more information on the State Advocacy Network, click here.
