Aviation Loses A Friend and Colleague
NATA released this statement in tribute to Henry M. Ogrodzinski, President and CEO of the National Association of State Aviation Officials:
“It is with a heavy heart that NATA and the aviation community bids farewell to Henry Ogrodzinski. He was not only a strong advocate for our industry, but also a friend to countless members of the entire aviation community. Henry will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his strength, his incredible talent, but most of all for the personal touch he brought to everything he did. He has left an indelible mark on the industry as a mentor and leader. We extend our sympathy to his family, colleagues and friends,” said NATA President and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks.
Washington House Bill Broadens Definition of Commercial Airplane – Encourages Business Migration and Job Growth
On Thursday, January 30, 2014, the Washington State House Committee on Technology and Economic Development will review House Bill 2203, which amends the definition of “commercial airplane” for tax preferences to include a broader range of commercial aircraft in order to promote the relocation of businesses and good wage jobs across the state. Washington State to Perform Aviation System Plan Update – Asks for Industry Input
The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Aviation Division is encouraging members of the aviation industry to comment on a system plan that will “help the state strategically maintain and improve its aviation system for the future.” More information on what the Department is looking for, and who to contact, can be found here.
Hendricks to Participate in Upcoming Association Town Halls
NATA President and CEO Tom Hendricks will participate in the HAI HELI-Expo General Aviation Association CEO Town Hall on February 26th in Anaheim, CA. Hendricks is also guest speaker at the Minnesota Aviation Trades Association Conference on March 21st and at the Opening Town Hall of the Aviation Pros Live event on March 25-26 in Las Vegas, NV.

Second Day of NATA Conference Features A Capitol Experience
Discover the past, present and future of our Nation’s Capitol on the second day of the Aviation Business & Legislative Conference (ABLC). The day’s events will begin at the impressive U.S. Capitol Visitor Center (CVC). The CVC provides a welcoming and educational environment for visitors to learn about the unique characteristics of the House and the Senate and the legislative process as well as the history and development of the architecture and art of the U.S. Capitol. NATA will hold its 2014 Spring Committee Meetings on Monday, March 3rd, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. The committee meetings are held in conjunction with the NATA Aviation Business and Legislative Conference (ABLC). Registration is available online or through a printable registration form. The deadline for confirming your attendance at the committee meetings is Monday, February 14, 2014, but your earliest possible response will help us plan your committee meeting attendance.

Banyan FANS 1/A CPDLC Workshop/Demo
Banyan Air Service based at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE) will host a NextGen Seminar on Thursday, February 6 from 10 am – 1:00 pm. This seminar will include a hands-on workshop and a live demonstration of Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC). The purpose of the workshop is to provide hands on experience using the equipment that meets the North Atlantic FANS 1/A Mandates and European Mandate for LINK 2000+ requirements. The NextGen topics also covered will include ADS-B, ADS-C, FANS 1/A benefits which are improved communications, reduced separation between aircraft, and more direct routings.
