Charter Industry Loses Long-time Advocate and Friend
The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) and NATA were saddened to learn of the passing of Jim Christiansen. Christiansen was a former chairman of NATA, and a founding member and chairman of the ACSF. NATA and ACSF released the following statements last week:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague,” said NATA President and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks. “Jim was a tireless advocate for our industry and our deepest sympathies go out to his family.”
“Jim was a visionary,” said ACSF President Bryan Burns. “His leadership and dedication helped form the ACSF. Jim had a positive impact on the lives of many of us in the aviation community. Our industry has lost a person of great integrity and talent.”
Tom Hendricks to Serve on Airport Business Editorial Advisory Board
NATA President and CEO Tom Hendricks was recently named to the Airport Business editorial advisory board. Hendricks will serve on the panel of highly visible, recognized and influential experts to help provide quality content to the industry.
New York Governor Declares May 2014 “Aviation Appreciation Month”
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo recently signed a proclamation declaring May 2014 as “Aviation Appreciation Month.” In New York, general aviation supports over 8,600 jobs and over $1 billion in economic activity. “General aviation and local airports are a tremendous resource for local communities and support businesses and economic development across the state,” stated NATA President and CEO Thomas L. Hendricks. “NATA and our member companies in New York applaud Governor Cuomo’s recognition of general aviation as a vital resource to the state’s competitiveness and growth.”
Safety 1st Wraps Up Inaugural Regional Advanced Line Service Workshop
Last week, line service professionals participated in the first ever Safety 1st Regional Line Service Workshop in St. Louis. The workshop, which sold out with nearly 30 attendees, was hosted by Jet Aviation St. Louis and the St. Louis Downtown Airport Fire Department. NATA is Seeking a Manager, Regulatory Affairs
NATA is seeking a new Manager, Regulatory Affairs. The Manager, Regulatory Affairs serves as a member of the NATA professional staff and provides critical support to the NATA membership and represents the aviation business community before a number of government and related forums. The position involves substantial technical writing and a demonstrated ability to explain complex regulatory issues to the general public. FAA pilot certification, knowledge of FAA regulations and the federal rulemaking process preferred. Position requires candidate to travel regularly.
